is looking for a General Manager/Operations/Salesperson.  We are a local distributor of soft goods in the golf course, sports turf, and lawn care industries. The right fit for the position will have good communication, computer, and organizational skills.  This person will play a key role in managing the warehouse and inventory, arranging deliveries, day to day business operations, and sales (as time permits).  This position will be responsible for maintaining quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.  The right candidate will continually pursue professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies. Job Qualifications:
-Prefer 2-4 yr degree in turfgrass, agronomy, or landscape related field
-Experience using and/or knowledge of turf related products and applications
-Clean driving record
-Basic use of computers and basic software programs

St. Paul Campus Maintenance and Grounds Worker

General Statement:

This position reports to the Assistant Director for St. Paul Facilities and is responsible for the maintenance of the St. Paul Gymnasium and URW outdoor facilities in Minneapolis and St. Paul. This position must be prepared to work flexible hours. Though assisted at times by part-time/student employees, this position is expected to perform most of the assigned maintenance tasks directly.  This position requires problem solving and decision making on repair and maintenance items, field maintenance and custodial issues on a daily basis.  This position has direct supervision of 12-15 students which includes hiring, training, scheduling and student development.

Essential Duties:
· Prepare and set up fields for various sports.
· Operate motorized equipment, i.e., mowers, tractors, snow removal equipment, departmental utility vehicle as well as departmental truck, etc.
· Clean and maintain the indoor facility space of the St. Paul Gymnasium.
· Assist with setup and cleanup for events and projects. 
· Supervise a team of student employees performing custodial and grounds work at the St. Paul Gymnasium and department sports fields in
          St. Paul, East Bank, and West Bank.

Essential Qualifications:
· Ability to read and write competently in English and lift 50 pounds to shoulder height.
· Possess experience in the operation of equipment associated with performing job related duties such as mowers, tractors, turf maintenance and
          lining equipment, snow removal equipment as well as custodial equipment.
· Possess a working knowledge/certification in the area of turf management and athletic field/grounds layout and maintenance.
· Experience supervising students or other part-time staff.
· Must possess a valid drivers’ license.

Work Responsibilities:

Outdoor Facility Maintenance (45%)
· Seasonal care of outdoor facilities which includes all departmental Sports Fields located on the Minneapolis East Bank and West Bank campuses
          as well as St. Paul campus. 
  Prepare and set up fields for various sports at URW Sports Field Complex, West Bank Fields and St. Paul Fields which includes ground repair,
          seeding, irrigation, mowing, trimming and lining of all fields including the artificial turf fields as needed.
 Removal of trash for all outdoor facilities.
· Coordinate maintenance of the clubhouses, storage areas and field equipment.
· Performs and coordinates grounds crew duties with the assistance of student employees.
· Oversee field turf grooming and care at the URW Sports Field Complex/Dome.
 Responsible for the removal of perimeter snow at the URW Sports Field Complex/Dome and entrances of the St. Paul Gymnasium during winter
· Responsible for the hiring, training and scheduling of approximately 12-15 student employees.
 Maintain and care for outdoor tennis court surface and equipment adjacent to the St. Paul Gymnasium.
· Operate motorized equipment, i.e., mowers, tractors, snow removal equipment, departmental utility vehicle as well as departmental truck, etc.

Indoor Facility Maintenance (45%)

·         Responsible for overseeing day time custodial/maintenance/cleaning responsibilities of the St. Paul Gymnasium.
· Clean and maintain handball/racquetball and squash courts, including floors, walls, glass, etc. at the St. Paul Gymnasium.
· Clean and maintain gyms and multipurpose rooms including the floors and glass at the St. Paul Gymnasium.
· Clean and maintain corridors and building entrance (interior and exterior) at the St. Paul Gymnasium.
· Clean and maintain Sauna area as well as Equipment Room at the St. Paul Gymnasium.
· Maintain and care for sports nets, dividing nets, backboards, and other equipment at the St. Paul Gymnasium.
· nspect and replace room lights as needed and other necessary utilities at the St. Paul Gymnasium.

Specific tasks associated with assigned facilities, which include, but are not limited to (10%): 
 Assist with organizing annual maintenance shutdown of facilities.
· Assist the Sr. Building & Grounds Worker with event set-ups and major projects.
· Assist the Assistant Director for St. Paul Facilities with long-term maintenance
plans, facility coverage, employee scheduling, facility inspections,
          ordering/maintaining equipment, and coordinating work with various vendors and contractors. 

· Assist with facility setup and cleanup associated with departmental summer Youth Program Day Camps.
· Develop a positive relationship with Recreation & Wellness staff as well as Facilities Management Zone personnel to carry out effective care of
· Attend Departmental meetings and workshops.

  Carry out other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director for St. Paul Facilities

GROUNDS WORKER, Campus Facilities Services  -  L00029

Assist in all care taking of the grounds including lawns, ballfields, landscaping, sidewalks, steps, entries, and trees in a neat and efficient manner, in all seasons as assigned.

Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:        

Assist in maintaining campus lawns, mowing, irrigating, fertilizing and spraying regularly. Provide tree and shrub care, including watering, trimming and planting.  Assist with annual planting of flowers.  Assist in the cutting and removal of dead trees.  Assist in maintaining all landscape designs.

Assist in supervising student workers, assigning daily tasks.

Perform maintenance and general upkeep on machinery.  Assist with maintenance of irrigation systems.

Assist in plowing, shoveling and removing snow and ice from sidewalks, steps, and entryways.

Perform maintenance and general upkeep on UNW vehicles as needed

Assist with daily vehicle inspections

Assist with cleaning vehicles interiors and exteriors

POSITION TITLE: Grounds Foreman

REPORTS TO:  Director of Operations and the Facilities Manager

SUPERVISES:  District grounds maintenance staff 

JOB GOAL: To effectively plan, manage, and supervise the school district’s grounds and grounds maintenance staff.



●        Make recommendations and assist in the hiring and performance evaluations of district grounds maintenance staff

●        Directing the work of other grounds maintenance staff and verifying the tasks are completed

●        Supervise the maintenance and upkeep of all District school grounds

●        Supervise, schedule, assign and direct the work of grounds staff

●        Prepare specifications for the purchase of new equipment

●        Maintain maintenance and repair records on all equipment

●        Assist Athletic Director and coaches in purchasing, scheduling, handling and maintaining outdoor athletic equipment

●        Supervise the maintenance and repair of all grounds equipment

●        Assist in the development of the district maintenance budget and monitor maintenance expenses

●        Operate grounds equipment as required to accomplish objectives

●        Supervise, schedule and assign work for summer and winter requirements

●        Provide technical expertise in the area of turf, outdoor athletic equipment, grounds equipment, shrub, tree and other related landscape maintenance, repair and upkeep

●        Establish preventative and predictive maintenance schedules and prioritize maintenance projects district wide

●        Perform other related duties delegated to accomplish the objectives of the total School District.

●        Other duties as assigned



●        Minnesota Commercial, Class B vehicle operator’s license. Current licensure is required at all times. Clean Minnesota driving record (Verification will be required)

●        5 years experience in grounds operations, snow removal, maintenance and upkeep in a commercial setting

●        Practical knowledge of turf, soils, fertilizers, pesticides.


●        Current A & E Pesticide Applicators License, within 6 months

●        Experience in athletic field layout and set up

●        Directly related post-secondary education may be substituted on a year for year basis for the grounds experience


SALARY: $56,000 plus overtime

WORK YEAR:                                     260 days (12-month position)
